ABOUT ESMERALDA

Esmeralda Vere is a yoga-based movement coach based in Somerset, UK. Her work weaves together elements of postural yoga, mobility explorations, natural movement patterns and play. This diverse and innovative approach helps her students to move freely, get out of pain and build lifelong capability & grace.

Esmeralda became a student of yoga at the tender age of 12 and has been teaching since 2015 when she graduated from the Frog Lotus International 200 hour training. After sustaining a knee injury from strong adjustments during intensive ashtanga training in India, Esmeralda realized that her understanding of healing movement needed to shift. She began studying mobility, weaving the new movements she learned into her yoga practice. Her work is informed by Yoga Detour, Movement Fluency, MovNat and Nutritious Movement among others.

Originally from Winchester, Esmeralda lived in Paris for 10 years and has had the deep honour to share yoga with diverse students across the world (including assisting Alicia Waters on her 200 hour foundational yoga teacher training in Bali, Indonesia.) She is a certified Thai Yoga Massage practitioner, and brings this therapeutic awareness to her hands-on assists and adjustments during class.

She firmly believes in the healing power of mindful movement, conscious breath & play, and works to make them available to everybody. Her classes are light-hearted, yet grounded in a deep understanding of biomechanics, strength-building and active ranges of motion; creating nurturing spaces in which to heal the body and soothe the mind.

Throughout her long love affair with movement, Esmeralda has witnessed the transformational magic of building a diverse practice countless times, and it is her deep joy to share that with others. CLASS SCHEDULE

Vinyasa

Vinyasa is a dynamic and creative style of yoga, where breath and movement are linked. Classes move through sun salutations, including "flows" of different postures - it can feel a little like dancing!

Esmeralda's classes are named (em)Power for a reason - they are all about loving the body you are in. They feature intelligent sequences that increase in intensity, often incorporating some challenging poses, before softening into deep relaxation.

Vinyasa yoga helps increase flexibility and strength, treading the delicate balance between effort and grace and encouraging practitioners to lead a more mindful life on and off the mat.

HATHA FLOW

Hatha classes move more slowly than Vinyasa, but focus remains on linking breath with movement. Breathwork and alignment are covered in a little more depth, so these classes are excellent for beginners.

The sequences tend to be a little simpler, and the postures are often held for longer. The classes are structured similarly; a slow build of energy which ebbs away towards gentler poses and total relaxation.

Hatha is excellent for increasing flexibility, joint care and improving focus.

RESTORATIVE

Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing style which uses bolsters, cushions and other props to support students as they maintain gentle poses for longer periods. It is a yoga of "being" rather than "doing"; placing the body into a restful and supported state.

Students are encouraged to turn inward and be at ease with their innermost workings, for a deeply soothing and meditative experience.

Restorative yoga is a highly beneficial complement to an active lifestyle, and perfect for those who struggle with stress.

PARTNER YOGA

Stretch with your BFF, your mum, your lover, your neighbour (or someone new if you choose to come alone!)

Learn simple stretches and movements you can perform with another person. See how you can support each other, and how having that support enables you to go deeper and try new things! Listen to your body, and learn to communicate compassionately both verbally and non-verbally.
